Education First is looking for an organised, proactive and experienced Attendance Officer to join a secondary school in Sutton.

This is a full-time maternity cover position, offering an excellent opportunity for an experienced school administrator or attendance professional to join a busy school environment.

The successful candidate will play an important role in monitoring and improving pupil attendance, working closely with pupils, parents, carers and school staff.

The Role

• Monitoring daily pupil attendance and absence
• Following up on unexplained and persistent absences
• Contacting parents and carers regarding attendance concerns
• Maintaining accurate attendance records
• Identifying patterns and trends in pupil attendance
• Working closely with pastoral and safeguarding teams
• Supporting attendance improvement strategies
• Preparing attendance information and reports
• Communicating with pupils regarding attendance
• Maintaining confidentiality when handling sensitive information
• Following school attendance, safeguarding and child protection procedures

What We’re Looking For

• Previous experience in a school or education setting
• Experience working in attendance, administration or pastoral support
• Strong organisational and administrative skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• The ability to communicate confidently with parents and carers
• Strong attention to detail
• The ability to manage confidential information appropriately
• A proactive and professional approach
• A commitment to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing
• The ability to work effectively as part of a wider school team

Previous experience as an Attendance Officer within a secondary school would be desirable.
