An opportunity has arisen for a registered Pharmacy Technician to join the Argyll & Bute pharmacy and vaccination services.
Applicants must hold an appropriate Pharmacy Technician qualification, such as NVQ Level 3 or BTEC in Pharmaceutical Sciences or equivalent, and must be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council. Effective communication, numeracy, organisation, IT skills, attention to detail, a full driving licence and access to a car for business use are required.
Working under the direction of pharmacists and senior pharmacy colleagues, the postholder will support the safe, accurate, secure and cost-effective management of vaccines and other medicines used across Vaccination Services and CTAC.
- Participate in stock management, including receipt, storage, ordering processes, stock checks, expiry-date monitoring, distribution and management of returns or disposal.
- Maintain accurate electronic and paper records and use relevant stock-management systems to issue and receive stock.
- Support cold chain and quality assurance activity, including refrigerator and freezer temperature monitoring and escalation of discrepancies.
- Assist with stock reconciliation, audit, data collection, reporting and actions to reduce vaccine wastage.
- Respond to routine queries within competence and refer clinical or complex matters to an appropriate pharmacist or senior colleague.
- Support medicines governance, safety alerts, incident reporting, standard operating procedures, staff training and service improvement.
- Work collaboratively with pharmacy, nursing, administrative and primary care teams across multiple sites in Argyll & Bute.
