The Portsmouth Academy is seeking a highly organised and proactive HR Administration Assistant to join our Office administration team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys supporting others and is committed to maintaining high standards of accuracy, confidentiality and service.

You will play a key role in supporting staff across the employee lifecycle, ensuring our HR processes run smoothly and safeguarding and compliance responsibilities are met.

The HR Administration Assistant provides efficient, accurate and responsive support to staff and managers. The role covers a wide range of HR and administrative duties including:

  • Recruitment administration, coordinating interviews, liaising with candidates and supporting safer recruitment checks.
  • Onboarding and pre-employment checks, ensuring all documentation is complete before start dates.
  • Maintaining accurate HR records and personnel files
  • Absence administration including recording absence, monitoring triggers and supporting the absence management process.
  • Payroll administration compile and submit payroll-related information accurately and within published monthly deadlines.
  • Offboarding administration ensuring leaver processes are completed accurately and promptly.
  • General administrative and reception support as part of the wider school office team.

About You:

  • Previous experience of working in a school or other education environment is desirable
  • Ability to cope with conflicting demands, deadlines and priorities
  • You will be able to work to tight deadlines in a methodical manner observing confidentiality at all times.
  • Excellent administration skills, with a high level of efficiency and accuracy
  • English and Maths to GCSE level 5+ /A*-C
  • Strong IT skills including knowledge of Microsoft 365
