Pastoral Support Officer

The John Smeaton Academy is seeking to appoint an outstanding anddedicated Pastoral Support Officer to join our pastoral team. This is a keyrole within the academy, working closely with the Head of Year and AssistantPrincipal to support the effective leadership and day-to-day management of ayear group. The successful candidate will provide high-quality pastoral care,lead targeted interventions, support safeguarding and child protectionprocesses, and work closely with students, families and external agencies toensure every young person is safe, engaged and able to achieve their fullpotential.

Potential applicants should have:

• GCSE Grade 5+/C+ or above (orequivalent) in English and Mathematics.
• Knowledge ofchildren and young people’s development, safeguarding and child protectionpolicies and procedures.
• Experience of supporting students to improvebehaviour, engagement and achievement.
• Excellentcommunication skills and the ability to build positive relationships withstudents, families and external agencies.
