Conveyancing Assistant

needed in Cheltenham. Salary: £30,000 per annum. Job Type: Full-time, Permanent. Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, 08:30 – 17:00, with a 30-minute lunch break. This is a fully office-based position in central Cheltenham, with an immediate start available.

About the Role:

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Conveyancing Assistant to join a well-established legal practice based in the heart of Cheltenham.This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous conveyancing experience who already has a good understanding of the conveyancing process and is confident supporting fee earners with minimal supervision.You will be joining a close-knit Cheltenham team of 12 people, including solicitors, chartered legal executives and experienced support staff. The successful candidate will most likely work directly alongside a fee earner and secretary, providing day-to-day support across a busy residential conveyancing caseload.The Cheltenham office is also the firm’s hub for commercial conveyancing and is located in an attractive building in a fantastic central location. The majority of the team have been with the business for a number of years, offering a stable and experienced working environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparing and issuing contract papers
  • Supporting with client onboarding and checking identification documentation
  • Preparing completion statements and issuing bills
  • Checking source of funds documentation
  • Reviewing files, understanding their current progress and chasing outstanding matters as required
  • Liaising professionally with clients, estate agents and other relevant parties
  • Using Building Society portals and the Land Registry Portal
  • Providing day-to-day administrative and conveyancing support to fee earners

Skills & Requirements:

  • Ideally 2-3+ years of previous conveyancing experience
  • Previous experience working within a conveyancing department and supporting fee earners
  • Strong understanding of the residential conveyancing process
  • Ability to pick up a file, understand its current progress and confidently chase outstanding matters
  • Confident using Building Society portals and the Land Registry Portal
  • Strong organisation skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Confident communicating with clients, estate agents and colleagues
  • Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision
  • Formal qualifications are not essential, with relevant conveyancing experience being the priority
