Communication Support Assistant Bradford

About the role:

Justteachers are working with a Bradford based Primary School to appoint a Communication Support Assistant to start in September 2026 on a full and long-term basis.

The successful Communication Support Assistant will support children who have difficulty communicating with others, understanding social interaction including speech, language and communication needs (SLCN) Autism.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop social skills from small group sessions
• Deliver language interventions surrounding vocabulary teaching and narrative building programmes
• Run targeted social communication groups
• Adapt instruction by providing simple language, chunked directions and checking understanding
• Deliver individual or group sessions to improve expressive and receptive language

Pre-requisites:

• Experience working with children in an educational, childcare, or support setting
• Understanding of child development and the communication needs of primary-aged pupils
• Experience supporting children with speech, language, and communication needs (SLCN)
• Ability to implement communication strategies such as visual supports, Makaton, PECs, or other augmentative communication tools (training can be provided)
• Strong spoken and written communication skills suitable for working with young children, staff, and parents
