SEMH HLTA – Peterborough

About the role:

A welcoming school in Peterborough seeking a confident Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to support teaching and learning across the setting. The school prioritises inclusive education, high-quality learning experiences, and supporting pupils to reach their full potential academically and socially. This role is full-time to start in September.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver planned lessons and learning activities in the absence of the teacher, ensuring continuity of learning.
• Support the planning and delivery of differentiated lessons alongside teaching staff to meet varying pupil needs.
• Use structured teaching strategies – including modelling, questioning, and scaffolding – to support pupil progress.
• Provide feedback on pupil progress and support behaviour management through consistent expectations and positive reinforcement.

Pre-requisites:

• Experience working in a school setting, including leading learning or covering lessons.
• Strong understanding of the curriculum and how to adapt teaching to support different learners.
• Confidence managing groups of pupils independently and maintaining engagement.
• HLTA status or relevant qualifications such as Level 4 Teaching Assistant or equivalent experience.
