SEND Teaching Assistant – Leeds

About the role:

Justteachers is seeking a Secondary SEND Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and inclusive school in the Leeds area on a long-term basis.

This full-time role is available to start immediately, with shortlisting currently underway. The school is dedicated to providing a structured, inclusive, and nurturing environment where students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) can achieve both academically and personally

Key Responsibilities:

• Supporting secondary-aged pupils with SEND to engage positively in lessons and the wider school environment
• Assisting with the delivery of tailored learning activities and differentiated support
• Implementing behaviour management strategies, emotional regulation techniques, and individual support plans
• Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams to support student progress and wellbeing

Pre-requisites:

• Relevant qualifications in education, childcare, youth work, or support work
• Proven experience supporting children or young people with SEND, ideally in a secondary setting
• Strong knowledge of behaviour management, de-escalation strategies, and emotional regulation approaches
• Two professional references, ideally from education or school-based settings
