We are looking to appoint a dedicated and compassionate SEN 1:1 Teaching Assistant to provide individual support to a pupil with additional needs and help them make the most of every learning opportunity.
This is a rewarding role for someone who is patient, nurturing and passionate about supporting children to overcome barriers to learning. Working closely with our teaching staff and SEND team, you will play a key part in helping a pupil build confidence, develop independence and achieve their full potential both academically and socially.
The Role
As a SEN 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Provide tailored one-to-one support for a pupil with Special Educational Needs.
- Support the pupil in accessing lessons and engaging fully in school life.
- Implement personalised learning strategies and interventions under the guidance of the class teacher and SENDCo.
- Promote the pupil’s social, emotional and behavioural development.
- Build a positive, trusting relationship that encourages confidence, independence and resilience.
- Monitor progress and share observations with teaching staff and relevant professionals.
- Work collaboratively with parents, carers and external agencies to ensure the best possible outcomes for the pupil.
- Help create a safe, inclusive and nurturing learning environment where every child feels supported.
What We’re Looking For
We would love to hear from candidates who:
- Have experience working with children, ideally within a school or SEND setting.
- Have an understanding of additional needs such as ASD, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language difficulties or learning needs.
- Are calm, patient and empathetic in their approach.
- Can adapt their support strategies to meet the individual needs of a child.
- Have excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- Hold relevant qualifications, although these are desirable rather than essential.
