Job Description

General Operatives – Sandilands Tunnel Works

We are currently seeking General Operatives to support upcoming works at Sandilands Tunnel during a major blockade period. We are looking for reliable and experienced General Operatives to assist with a range of civil engineering, tunnel and general site activities.

Project Details

• Location: Sandilands Tunnel
• Blockade period: 07:00 on 24 October 2026 to 23:59 on 4 November 2026
• Working pattern: 24/7 throughout the blockade
• Shift pattern: 12-hour shifts
• Shift times: 07:00-19:00 / 19:00-07:00
• Requirement: General Operatives
• Certification: Valid Pink Ticket required for the tram network

Scope of Works

The successful candidates will be involved in a variety of site activities, including:

• Waterproofing works
• UTX construction
• Installation of GRP walkways
• Guttering and downpipe installation
• General civils works
• Vegetation clearance
• Assisting with brickwork repairs and pointing
• Material movement and site clearance
• General labouring and supporting skilled trades
• Maintaining a clean, safe and organised work area

Requirements

• Previous experience as a General Operative on construction, civil engineering, rail or tram projects
• Valid Pink Ticket for the tram network
• Good understanding of site health and safety requirements
• Ability to work 12-hour shifts, including days and nights
• Ability to work throughout the full blockade period
• Reliable, hardworking and able to work effectively as part of a team
