Interim Assistant Headteacher – SEND

SEND Inclusion Support are working with a valued partner school in Newbury to recruit an experienced Interim Assistant Headteacher to join their leadership team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced school leader who can provide confident, consistent leadership during an interim period and make a positive contribution to the day-to-day running and development of the school.
We are looking for a leader who is visible, approachable and solutions-focused, with the ability to work effectively with staff, pupils and the wider leadership team.
The Role
Working alongside the Headteacher and wider senior leadership team, you will contribute to the effective leadership and management of the school.
The Role Will Involve
- Providing strategic and operational leadership across the school.
- Supporting the Headteacher with the day-to-day running of the school.
- Leading on agreed areas of school improvement and development.
- Supporting staff to maintain high standards of teaching, behaviour and pupil support.
- Promoting positive outcomes for pupils, including those with SEND.
- Supporting safeguarding and pastoral systems.
- Monitoring standards and identifying areas for improvement.
- Working collaboratively with staff, families and external professionals.
- Contributing to effective staff development and support.
- Providing visible and consistent leadership across the school.
About You
We are looking for an experienced school leader who can hit the ground running and provide stability, professionalism and clear leadership.
You Will Ideally Have
- Previous Assistant Headteacher or equivalent senior leadership experience.
- Strong experience within a school environment.
- A sound understanding of SEND and inclusive education.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to lead, motivate and support staff.
- Strong organisational and decision-making skills.
- A calm, professional and approachable leadership style.
- A commitment to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing.
This would suit an experienced AHT, Deputy Headteacher or senior leader looking for an interim opportunity where they can make an immediate contribution.
