Job Description Shift Engineer (Multi-Skilled – Electrical Bias) n Salary: £55,000+ per annum, plus 10% night shift allowance n Working Hours: n Average 37.5–40 hours per week on a rotating shift pattern: n n 06:00–14:00 n 08:00–16:00 n 14:00–22:00 n 22:00–06:00 (Sunday–Thursday nights) n n On-call cover operates on a rotating basis, approximately one weekend in four. n Holiday: n n 26 days annual leave plus bank holidays n n Benefits: n n Company pension with employer-matched contributions n Private healthcare cash plan n Employee discounts platform n Ongoing training and development opportunities n n The Opportunity n We are recruiting for an experienced Multi-Skilled Shift Engineer with a strong electrical bias to join a busy manufacturing site. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining production equipment, improving reliability, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, and ensuring all engineering activities are completed safely and efficiently. n This position would suit an apprentice-trained engineer with experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, ideally within food, FMCG or another highly regulated industry. n Key Responsibilities n n Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance across production equipment. n Diagnose and rectify electrical and mechanical faults to minimise downtime. n Maintain accurate maintenance records using the site’s Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS). n Perform root cause analysis and implement permanent corrective actions. n Support production teams to maximise equipment availability and efficiency. n Review contractor risk assessments and method statements (RAMS) where required and issue permits to work. n Ensure all maintenance activities comply with company safe systems of work, risk assessments and health & safety procedures. n Complete dynamic risk assessments where necessary. n Ensure maintenance documentation, operating manuals and technical information remain up to date and accessible. n Maintain engineering workshops and plant areas to high housekeeping standards. n Participate in continuous improvement projects to improve plant reliability, efficiency and performance. n Support environmental initiatives aimed at reducing waste, energy usage and carbon footprint. n n Key Objectives n n Maintain an excellent health and safety record. n Deliver preventative maintenance schedules on time. n Reduce equipment downtime and increase plant reliability. n Support production to achieve operational targets. n Promote a strong food safety and quality culture. n Contribute towards continuous improvement and operational excellence. n Achieve engineering KPIs relating to reliability, response times and maintenance completion. n n Skills & Technical Experience n Essential n n Apprentice-trained Multi-Skilled Engineer with an electrical bias. n Experience fault finding on PLC-controlled (Allen Bradley) machinery, HMIs and automated production equipment. n Knowledge of preventative and predictive maintenance techniques. n Experience using CMMS maintenance systems. n Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding ability. n Excellent understanding of health and safety within a manufacturing environment. n n Desirable n n Experience managing contractors. n Knowledge of SCADA or Distributed Control Systems (DCS). n Instrument calibration experience. n Experience within food manufacturing or another hygienic production environment. n Experience of CHP, utilities or wastewater treatment plant equipment. n n Qualifications n Essential n n Recognised Engineering Apprenticeship. n Level 3 qualification (City & Guilds or NVQ) in Electrical, Mechanical or Multi-Skilled Engineering. n n Desirable n n HNC or HND in Engineering. n 18th Edition Electrical Regulations. n IOSH Managing Safely or NEBOSH qualification. n CompEx certification. n n What We’re Looking For n The successful candidate will demonstrate: n n Strong ownership and accountability. n A proactive, hands-on approach to maintenance. n Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving skills. n Strong planning and organisational ability. n A continuous improvement mindset. n The ability to work independently while contributing positively within a team. n A commitment to safe working practices and operational excellence. n n This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established manufacturing business offering long-term stability, investment in engineering, and opportunities for professional development. n n JBRP1_UKTJ
