About the company
If you’re a Newly Qualified Accountant looking to make your first step into industry, or a Part-Qualified/Qualified by Experience candidate looking for a step up, this could be the perfect role for you.A well-established business in the Newtownabbey area is seeking a Financial Accountant to join its finance team on a maternity cover contract.
Reporting directly to the Financial Director, you will play a key role across the month-end process, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting and balance sheet reconciliations.
This is a varied and hands-on position offering excellent exposure across a broad range of accounting responsibilities within a busy and supportive finance function.
Key responsibilities include:
- Preparation and posting of monthly financial journals
- Supporting the month-end and year-end accounts process
- Analysis of financial performance against budget, forecast and prior year
- Preparation of balance sheet reconciliations
- Accruals and other month-end adjustments
- Supporting budgeting and forecasting processes
- Assisting with statutory and regulatory reporting
- Supporting the annual external audit
- Working closely with the Financial Controller and wider finance team
- Involvement in finance projects and process improvements
- Other ad-hoc duties as required
Requirements:
- Qualified or Part-Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
- Previous experience within a busy finance environment
- Strong month-end and reconciliation experience
- Excellent Excel and IT skills
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Ability to work to tight deadlines
- Previous ERP or finance systems experience would be advantageous
