NOVO People are working with an established Construction contractor to recruit a Group SHEQ Advisor to take over it’s SHEQ function.
This would be ideal for someone looking at their first step into a Lead or Management role.
Salary will be circa 44-48K + Vehicle + Benefits!!
If you enjoy being out in the business, working with operational teams and actually influencing how SHEQ is managed day to day, this could be a very good move.
It would suit an experienced SHEQ / HSEQ Advisor who is comfortable working independently, engaging with people at all levels and balancing compliance with the realities of a busy operational environment.
The role
Working as part of the Group SHEQ function, youll help maintain and continually improve health, safety, environmental and quality standards across the organisation.
Your responsibilities are likely to include:
- Providing practical SHEQ advice and support to managers and operational teams
- Carrying out workplace inspections, audits and compliance reviews
- Supporting risk assessments, safe systems of work and other SHEQ documentation
- Investigating accidents, incidents and near misses and following through on corrective actions
- Helping maintain and improve Group SHEQ policies, procedures and management systems
- Monitoring compliance with relevant health, safety and environmental legislation
- Supporting environmental and quality improvement initiatives
- Delivering SHEQ inductions, briefings, toolbox talks and awareness training
- Monitoring actions arising from audits, inspections and investigations
- Supporting contractor and supplier compliance where required
- Producing reports, statistics and performance information for management
- Working closely with managers to encourage stronger ownership of SHEQ standards
- Supporting a positive, practical and continuously improving safety culture across the business
Youll already have experience working within a Health & Safety, HSE, HSEQ or SHEQ position and be comfortable operating in a hands-on environment.
Youll ideally bring:
- Previous experience in a SHEQ / HSEQ / Health & Safety Advisor role
- A recognised health and safety qualification such as NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent
- Good working knowledge of UK / Northern Ireland health and safety legislation
- Experience completing audits, inspections and risk assessments
- Confidence investigating incidents and identifying practical corrective actions
- Strong communication skills and the ability to influence operational teams
- A practical rather than purely compliance-led approach to SHEQ
- The ability to manage your own workload and work across multiple locations
Experience with recognised ISO management systems such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 would be particularly useful.
