We are currently recruiting for a General Operative to join a precision engineering and manufacturing environment in Daventry.The role will involve supporting milling and turning operations, carrying out general machine operative duties and assisting with the production of automotive components. You will be required to follow specific production instructions and processes, maintain high standards of quality and work safely at all times.Previous experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment is essential. Experience with precision engineering machinery, milling, turning or RoboDrill machinery would be highly advantageous.Full training will be provided, and previous machine-setting experience is not required.Key Responsibilities
Operating machinery as part of milling and turning processesCarrying out general machine operative dutiesLoading and unloading components from machinery where requiredDeburring, washing and assembling componentsPressure testing components using approved equipmentPart marking and honing of componentsMonitoring machinery during productionCarrying out visual and in-cycle quality inspectionsInspecting finished products for accuracy and adherence to specificationsUsing measuring equipment such as micrometres and verniers where requiredFollowing production instructions, processes and quality requirementsReporting any non-conformities or quality issuesCompleting paperwork accurately in line with ISO9001 requirementsPacking and counting finished componentsMaintaining a clean, tidy and organised working environment in line with 5S principlesFollowing all company health and safety proceduresWorking flexibly across different areas of the shopfloor when requiredSupporting the wider team with additional duties as requiredWorking overtime when requiredCandidate Requirements
Previous experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment is essentialExperience working with precision engineering machinery is highly desirablePrevious experience in milling or turning would be advantageousKnowledge or experience of RoboDrill machinery would be beneficialExperience working in an environment where attention to detail is importantPrevious experience using measuring equipment is advantageousEngineering background preferredGood reading and numerical skillsGood written and verbal communication skillsStrong attention to detail and concentrationAbility to follow detailed instructions and production processesGood understanding of working safely around industrial machineryAble to work independently and as part of a teamFlexible approach and willingness to work across different areas when requiredReliable and consistent approach to workAble to use own initiativeGood command of EnglishTraining & Development
