Interim Group Financial Controller

A leading financial services organisation is hiring a Financial Controller to report directly into the CFO — a role that sits at the heart of the business with genuine influence over how it’s run.

What you’ll be doing:

• Overseeing financial statements, ensuring they’re accurate, timely, and compliant with IFRS/GAAP
• Leading month-end and year-end close across the group
• Owning regulatory compliance — keeping ahead of financial regulations, tax laws and investment rules, and maintaining strong internal controls to protect the business and prevent fraud
• Identifying and managing financial risk, including oversight of investment fund performance
• Coordinating the external audit process and acting as a trusted voice for investors, trustees and other stakeholders
• Driving process improvement — streamlining systems, automating where possible, and improving reporting accuracy

What you’ll need:

• Prior experience in financial services (banking, investment management, insurance or pensions)
• A track record of leading and mentoring a finance team
• Strong cross-functional collaboration skills — this role works closely with legal, compliance and operations

Nice to have:

• Actuarial knowledge, particularly around pension plan liabilities
• Understanding of pension funding and solvency issues
• Investment strategy knowledge across equities, fixed income and alternatives

This is a senior leadership role with board and executive committee exposure — ideal for someone who wants real ownership over financial strategy, not just reporting on it.
