Resident Civil Engineer – Municipal Infrastructure

About the Role

Our client requires a diligent Resident Civil Engineer to oversee municipal infrastructure projects in Queenstown . This role involves ensuring that construction projects, such as roads, water reticulation, and stormwater systems, are completed to the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency. You will act as the eyes and ears of the client on-site, managing contractors, verifying work, and ensuring strict adherence to approved designs and specifications. This is a critical role for maintaining and upgrading vital public infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and manage the day-to-day execution of municipal civil engineering projects on-site.
• Monitor contractor performance, ensuring compliance with contract terms, specifications, and quality standards.
• Conduct regular site inspections, measurements, and testing of materials and workmanship.
• Review and approve contractor method statements, program updates, and payment applications.
• Maintain accurate site records, including daily reports, progress photos, and as-built information.
• Address site queries and coordinate with the design team and client representatives to resolve technical issues promptly.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in site supervision and resident engineering for municipal infrastructure projects.
• Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) or Professional Engineering Technologist (Pr Tech Eng) registration with ECSA is preferred.
• Proven experience with water, sanitation, and road construction projects.
• Strong understanding of contract administration (e.g., GCC, FIDIC) and quality control procedures.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
