Mechanical Design Engineer – Industrial Equipment

About the Role

Our client is seeking a creative and detail-oriented Mechanical Design Engineer specializing in Industrial Equipment for their facility in Queenstown. This role involves the conceptualization, design, and development of robust mechanical solutions for a range of industrial machinery. You will be responsible for translating customer needs and technical requirements into functional, reliable, and cost-effective equipment designs. This is a hands-on design role for an engineer passionate about creating tangible engineering solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop new industrial equipment, including machinery, mechanisms, and systems, from concept to production.
• Create detailed 3D models, 2D drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOMs) using CAD software.
• Perform mechanical analysis, including stress, strain, and thermal calculations, to ensure design integrity.
• Collaborate with manufacturing and assembly teams to DFM (Design for Manufacturing) and DFA (Design for Assembly).
• Build and test prototypes, documenting results and making design iterations as needed.
• Provide technical support to the sales and service departments regarding equipment design and performance.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 3-5 years of experience in mechanical design, preferably with industrial equipment.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor) and basic FEA tools.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes such as machining, fabrication, and assembly.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and specifications.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
