Mechanical Design Engineer – Renewable Technologies & District Heating

Location: London

I’m looking to speak with Mechanical Design Engineers who have experience designing heat networks, energy centres and low-carbon heating systems.

The role involves developing mechanical designs from concept through to detailed design, working with the wider project team to deliver practical solutions for district heating and renewable energy projects across London.

What you’ll be doing

• Designing district heating networks, energy centres and associated mechanical systems.
• Developing heating solutions that may include heat pumps, LTHW systems and thermal storage.
• Producing design calculations, drawings, specifications and technical reports.
• Selecting and sizing plant, equipment and pipework.
• Coordinating mechanical designs with electrical, controls and civil disciplines.
• Reviewing technical submissions and responding to design queries during delivery.
• Supporting site teams through installation, testing and commissioning.

What we’re looking for

• Experience in mechanical building services or energy system design.
• A background in district heating, heat networks or large-scale renewable heating projects.
• Good knowledge of LTHW systems, energy centres and plant room design.
• Confidence producing calculations and technical design documentation.
• The ability to work with clients, consultants and contractors to resolve design challenges.

Experience with heat pumps, hydraulic modelling or low-carbon energy systems would be particularly useful.
