An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join an established and growing construction contractor in Bristol. The company delivers a diverse range of construction and refurbishment projects across the Southwest, with project values ranging from £50k to £13.5m.
The successful candidate will work across a number of live projects, providing commercial support to site teams and taking responsibility for cost management, valuations, forecasting, estimating and commercial reporting. This is a varied role suited to a Quantity Surveyor who enjoys working across different projects and collaborating closely with clients, consultants, contractors and subcontractors.
What you’ll be doing
- Reviewing construction plans and preparing detailed quantity and cost requirements
- Managing the commercial aspects of multiple live projects, including valuations, forecasting and cost control
- Providing commercial support to site managers and project teams
- Supporting pre-construction and tender activities, including estimating, labour loading and pricing
- Managing WIP and ensuring accurate and up-to-date financial information is available
- Preparing commercial reports, budgets, risk assessments, contracts and cost analysis
- Monitoring design changes and updating project budgets accordingly
- Working closely with clients, consultants, contractors and subcontractors to ensure projects are delivered commercially and effectively
- Building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Visiting project sites across the Southwest as required
What we’re looking for
- Previous experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within the UK construction industry
- Strong experience in cost and commercial management on projects up to £15m
- Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritise effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to sites across the Southwest
- Degree, HNC or HND in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management is desirable
