We are looking for kind, reliable and confident Complex Care Support Workers to join a dedicated care team supporting a young boy living at home with his parents, sister and family dog in Bromley.
This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who wants to make a genuine difference to a young person’s quality of life while developing their skills within a supportive, nurse-led environment.
About the Young Person
He is a lovely young boy who enjoys cuddles and physical reassurance and responds well to familiar, comforting interaction.
He loves:
- Books
- Music and nursery rhymes
- TV programmes such as Mr Tumble and Toddler Club
- Sensory play, including lights, sounds, bubbles and different textures
- Light-up and interactive toys
He has significant physical, sensory and communication needs and requires a consistent, patient and nurturing approach from his care team.
His Care Needs
He has a number of complex health needs, including:
- Hypoxic ischaemic encephalopathy with MRI brain changes and history of neonatal seizures
- Cerebral palsy
- Syrnptornatic focal epilepsy with concordant EEG findings
- Dystonia
- Cortical Visual impairment
- Gastro-oesophagel reflux and Nissen’s Fundoplication
- Bilateral partial hip dislocation
- Nasopharyngeal obstruction
- Blended diet via PEG
Due to the complexity of his needs, he requires full support with all aspects of his health, personal care and daily wellbeing.
What the Role Involves
As a Complex Care Support Worker, you will provide personalised one-to-one support and help him feel safe, comfortable and engaged throughout the day.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Full assistance with personal care, including washing, dressing and toileting
- Supporting his health and wellbeing throughout the day
- Close supervision at all times, particularly during play and new activities
- Supporting safe transfers using a hoist
- Supporting sensory and interactive activities
- Providing physical reassurance and comfort
- Supporting engagement with books, music, nursery rhymes and favourite programmes
- Encouraging sensory exploration through age-appropriate activities
- Supporting his individual routines and care plan
- Monitoring for changes in his presentation or wellbeing
- Working closely with his family and the wider clinical team
- Maintaining accurate care records and communicating any concerns appropriately
Training & Clinical Support
You do not need to have experience with every aspect of his care.
Because this is specialist complex care, our nurse-led clinical team provides comprehensive training, competency assessments and ongoing clinical guidance tailored to the individual needs of the young person.
We are committed to ensuring that our care team feels confident, competent and supported in their role.
Previous experience in complex care, paediatric care, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, gastrostomy care or supporting children with profound and multiple learning disabilities would be advantageous.
However, we are equally interested in people who have the right attitude, compassion, reliability and willingness to learn.
Shift Pattern
We are currently recruiting for 2 roles:
Day shifts: 07:45–20:00
Nights shifts: which is a mixture of waking nights and sleep nights- 19:45-0:800
Contracted hours: up to 36 hours per week
Shift patterns will be discussed during the recruitment process.
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience in care or a strong understanding of supporting individuals with complex needs
- A caring, patient and compassionate approach
- Ability to work as part of a small, consistent care team
- Confidence supporting personal care
- Ability to follow detailed care plans and clinical guidance
- Good communication and observation skills
- Reliability and flexibility
- Full UK driving licence and ability to drive is essential
