Senior Process Engineer

Sigmar is delighted to be partnering with a leading engineering contractor in the water and wastewater sector to recruit a Process Engineer for their growing team. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established organisation delivering critical water infrastructure projects across Ireland and the UK. The successful candidate will support projects from concept and design through to commissioning and operational optimisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop process designs for water and wastewater treatment projects.
- Prepare process calculations, mass balances, hydraulic calculations, PFDs and P&IDs.
- Specify and optimise treatment technologies, including biological, filtration, sludge treatment and chemical dosing systems.
- Support multidisciplinary engineering teams throughout project delivery.
- Participate in design reviews, HAZOPs and commissioning activities.
- Analyse plant performance and identify process improvements.
- Prepare technical reports, documentation and tender submissions.
- Liaise with clients, contractors and key project stakeholders.
Essential Requirements
- Degree in Chemical, Process, Environmental Engineering or a related discipline.
- 5+ years’ experience within water and/or wastewater treatment.
- Experience delivering municipal or industrial treatment projects.
- Strong knowledge of biological treatment processes, hydraulic design principles and sludge treatment systems.
- Experience producing process calculations and technical reports.
- Knowledge of UK and Irish water industry standards.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or working towards chartership.
- Experience working with UK or Irish water utility frameworks.
- Knowledge of BIM or digital engineering environments.
- Experience supporting commissioning, plant optimisation and automation/control systems.
