Responsibilities

• Lead software development and debugging while upholding coding best practices
• Provide technical leadership on complex projects ensuring alignment with strategy and standards
• Design scalable, adaptable software solutions and 3rd-party integrations in collaboration with Architecture
• Perform thorough code reviews to enforce quality, maintainability, and test automation
• Collaborate with business stakeholders, product managers, and engineers to craft effective solutions
• Mentor and coach engineers across levels to enable growth
• Ensure operational excellence with monitoring, alerting, and incident response tooling; feed learnings back into development
• Identify and implement innovative approaches to improve operations and customer service

Key requirements

• Proven track record in developing high-performing, robust backend systems with focus on optimisation and scalability
• Strong understanding of software engineering principles and patterns for maintainable code
• Solid grasp of automated testing across unit, integration, and system levels for both backend and frontend tech
• Proficiency in Java, PL/SQL, JavaScript and tools such as Git and CI/CD pipelines
• Experience designing and deploying scalable cloud-based applications with attention to performance and security
• Clear communication skills for explaining complex concepts to diverse audiences
