Overview

In this role you will lead fire protection design and calculations for varied projects, acting as a key technical and client contact within AECOM Buildings & Places. You will develop fire safety solutions, perform surveys and reports, and support day-to-day project management. The position offers progression in a respected fire safety consultancy and involves cross-functional collaboration on high-profile schemes. You will apply your technical depth to complex design challenges and help deliver safe, compliant systems at scale. This role is a strategic mix of design leadership, technical delivery, and client engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Lead fire protection design on projects and support lead FP engineer on complex schemes
  • Prepare design packages for RIBA stages (drawings, specs, reports, hydraulic calculations)
  • Create fire suppression solutions across applications and perform sprinkler/water mist/gaseous calculations
  • Support remote project-delivery teams and contribute to technical reviews
  • Conduct field investigations, surveys, and issue resolution
  • Coordinate with project teams, clients, authorities, contractors and stakeholders
  • Support project managers on varied-scale projects and provide technical assurance

Key requirements

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong quantitative and analytical abilities
  • Relevant engineering degree or professional qualification
  • Experience in consultancy or related industries
  • Knowledge of British & International standards and Building Regulations
  • Experience with Fire Suppression Systems (Sprinklers, Water Mist, Gaseous Suppression, Risers, Hydrants, Hose Reels, Hypoxic Systems)
  • Software proficiency (Word, Excel, CAD, Revit, hydraulic tools)
