Overview
As Layout Integration Engineer, you own the development and delivery of integrated plant layouts for Fusion and Modular Nuclear programmes, including SMRs and AMRs. You will collaborate with multiple disciplines to create constructible, safe, and operable layouts from concept to detail design. You drive layout studies in 3D CAD/BIM and lead multidisciplinary workshops to resolve interfaces and clashes. This role offers the chance to contribute to critical nuclear projects and shape plant arrangements in a high-safety environment. You will work closely with global teams to ensure design satisfaction across safety, operation, and maintenance needs.

Responsibilities
- Own layout development for assigned systems, buildings or plant areas
- Develop integrated equipment, piping, cable tray, access and maintenance layouts
- Interpret and apply PFDs, P&IDs, equipment data sheets, line lists, requirements and engineering constraints
- Capture and manage design assumptions, constraints and interfaces
- Develop layouts within 3D CAD/BIM environments
- Lead piping routing studies and plant integration activities within assigned scope areas
- Act as the primary layout focal point for assigned work packages
- Coordinate design activities across multiple engineering disciplines
- Lead multidisciplinary workshops, model reviews and layout reviews
- Identify clashes, interfaces and design conflicts and drive their resolution
- Ensure layout solutions satisfy system, operational, safety, construction and maintenance requirements
- Produce general arrangements, layout studies and engineering deliverables
- Author technical reports, optioneering studies, design philosophies and engineering recommendations
- Present technical solutions and recommendations to stakeholders
- Support modularisation, construction and maintainability assessments
- Support requirements management and interface management activities
Key requirements
- Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent industrial experience
- Experience in plant layout, piping design, plant design or multidisciplinary engineering projects
- Experience within nuclear, power generation, defence, submarine, oil & gas, process plant or other complex engineering environments
- Experience using E3D, PDMS, Plant 3D, Siemens NX, Revit, Inventor or similar CAD/BIM tools
- Experience using Navisworks or equivalent model review software
- Ability to interpret engineering documentation including PFDs and P&IDs
- Understanding of systems engineering principles, requirements management and interface management
- Strong communication and report writing skills
