OT Automation Engineer

Overview

In this role you will help drive the digital transformation of our Felling manufacturing site by maintaining and advancing Industrial Control Systems and automation programs. You will safeguard OT systems, support cross-site projects, and strengthen cyber security. You’ll collaborate with IT, engineering and suppliers to deploy reliable automation solutions, while contributing to safety and continuous improvement. This is a hands-on role with a strong impact on site performance and security.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, troubleshoot and improve Industrial Control Systems (PLCs, SCADA and related equipment)
• Support automation and digital transformation projects across the site
• Develop and maintain ICS network architecture, software backups and business continuity plans
• Collaborate with internal teams and external suppliers to implement automation solutions
• Act as Site Cyber Security Officer and ensure OT security standards and policies
• Conduct cyber security risk and vulnerability assessments for ICS
• Support functional safety activities including HAZOP studies and process safety management
• Manage third-party contractors and coordinate with IT and regional digital teams
• Provide technical expertise to improve reliability, efficiency and plant performance

Key requirements

• Degree (or equivalent) in Electronics, Industrial Control, Automation Engineering or related discipline
• Experience maintaining Industrial Control Systems within manufacturing
• Strong knowledge of PLCs, SCADA systems and industrial communication protocols
• Experience with automation platforms such as Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Honeywell or ABB
• Understanding of OT cyber security, industrial networks and databases (OPC, SQL)
• Excellent troubleshooting, project management and stakeholder management
• Proactive with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently
