Overview

In this role you ensure reliable plant operation by performing preventive and reactive maintenance, minimizing downtime and keeping safety and regulatory compliance. You work within the maintenance team to plan, execute, and log maintenance activities, supporting continuous plant availability. You will respond to breakdowns, inspect equipment, and assist with planned shutdowns and capital works. This is a hands-on role that contributes to safe, efficient operations in a regulated environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide first line breakdown/defect repairs to minimize downtime
  • Monitor plant safety and report engineering concerns
  • Maintain maintenance documentation and prepare inspection and repairs per statutory requirements
  • Review and update site maintenance procedures
  • Report unsafe conditions to Plant Manager
  • Maintain workshop area and spares for minimal downtime
  • Provide stock lists for audits
  • Support out-of-hours maintenance and frontline support
  • Assist with improvement initiatives for equipment
  • Complete maintenance logs per BMS System
  • Stand in for Shift Supervisor when needed

Key requirements

  • Formal qualification in mechanical engineering (e.g. City & Guilds or equivalent)
  • Hydraulics maintenance / fault finding
  • Working knowledge of steam systems on a waste plant
  • Pneumatics experience
