Geotechnical Consultant

Overview

In this role you will lead geotechnical delivery in the Midlands, acting as the local geotechnical focal point within a growing Midlands team. You will oversee ground investigations, geotechnical designs, and robust ground models, and produce clear interpretive reports while shaping the Birmingham/geotechnical capability. You will work within a collaborative national network to deliver practical engineering solutions across diverse projects, making a tangible impact on regional growth and soil-structure challenges.

Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver ground investigations and geotechnical designs
• Develop robust ground models
• Produce high-quality interpretive reports
• Design geotechnical structures including foundations, earthworks, slopes, retaining structures and ground improvement
• Act as technical leader and grow geotechnical capability within the Birmingham team

Key requirements

• Proven experience scoping and delivering geotechnical investigations and designs
• Strong ground modelling and interpretive reporting skills
• Experience designing a range of geotechnical structures
• Confidence working independently and leading technical delivery
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Degree in Geotechnical or Civil Engineering (BEng, BSc or higher)
• Chartered status with a relevant professional body
