Senior Highways Engineer (Projects & Infrastructure)

Overview

In this contract role you will lead the design, delivery and site supervision of both minor and major highway projects, while managing a varied workload across highways and related infrastructure. You provide technical guidance across traffic management, parking, maintenance and drainage, working largely independently. You will engage with diverse stakeholders, including senior leadership and Councillors, to drive highway services in line with organisational objectives. This position offers the opportunity to shape multi-disciplinary highway solutions within a local government context, contributing to service delivery and industry best practice.

Responsibilities

• Lead on the design, delivery, and site supervision of both minor and major highway projects
• Manage a varied workload across highways and infrastructure-related projects
• Provide technical expertise across traffic management, parking services, highway maintenance, and drainage
• Work independently to deliver projects and service outcomes
• Engage with stakeholders including senior leadership teams, elected members, contractors, and external partners
• Support the successful delivery of highways services in line with organisational objectives and industry best practice
