Overview

In this role you will service and support specialist packaging machinery at customer sites, with a focus on electrical systems and strong mechanical understanding. You will install, commission, service and diagnose issues on high-value capital equipment, often in FMCG environments. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable machine performance and first-time fixes where possible, while working in customer-facing capacities. This position offers practical complexity, hands-on problem solving and opportunities to contribute to engineering excellence at scale.

Responsibilities

  • Install and commission new machinery
  • Planned servicing and maintenance
  • Breakdown diagnosis and repair
  • Electrical fault finding and diagnostics
  • Reading and interpreting electrical drawings
  • PLC and control system diagnostics
  • Software updates and system modifications
  • I/O card replacement and fault diagnosis
  • HMI diagnostics (inputs/outputs)
  • Mechanical fault finding and repairs
  • Work with conveyors and material-handling equipment
  • Support customers in FMCG, food, packaging and manufacturing environments
  • Provide professional, proactive service at customer sites
  • Aim for first-time fixes where possible
  • Collaborate with wider engineering and technical teams
  • Attend about one service visit per day to diagnose and resolve issues
  • Work in wet/cold food-production environments to a comfortable standard

Key requirements

  • Electrical Engineering / Maintenance / Service Engineering background
  • Strong electrical fault-finding experience
  • Solid mechanical diagnostic and repair skills
  • Experience with capital equipment
  • Experience in FMCG, food, packaging, material handling or conveyor machinery
  • Ability to read and understand electrical drawings
  • Experience with HMIs, I/O and control systems
  • Experience with machinery commissioning, installation or servicing
  • Proactive troubleshooting and problem-solving attitude
  • Strong communication and customer-facing skills
  • Ability to work independently within a wider team
