Client Manager – Outsourcing, Accountancy Practice – Uckfield

Overview

In this role you will lead a growing Bookkeeping & Outsourced Finance service line, owning a portfolio of clients to deliver accurate bookkeeping, VAT and management reporting. You will inspire and develop a multi-location team across UK and overseas, driving performance, quality and continuous improvement. You will shape processes, embrace technology, and contribute to the strategic growth of the outsourcing function within a collaborative culture. This is a client-facing leadership role focused on delivering high-quality outsourced finance services and nurturing long-term relationships.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain strong client relationships
• Review bookkeeping, VAT, CIS returns and management accounts
• Oversee VAT registrations, deregistrations and VAT enquiries
• Manage team workflow, deadlines and quality control
• Lead, coach and motivate a multi-office team (UK and overseas)
• Review timesheets and monitor recoverability
• Support new business development, proposals and conversion of prospects
• Drive process improvements and embed technology solutions
• Ensure compliance standards are met and maintained
• Assist with billing and fee recovery

Key requirements

• Qualified (or equivalent) with solid practice experience
• Strong, hands-on bookkeeping experience
• Good working knowledge of VAT
• Confidence using Xero, Sage, QuickBooks, Dext and ApprovalMax
• Experience mentoring staff
• Excellent organisational and communication skills
• Proactive, solutions-focused mindset
