Overview

As Electrical Commissioning Manager, you will lead on-site commissioning activities for projects in Buckinghamshire, ensuring technical compliance, testing, and timely issue resolution. You’ll coordinate with contractors, suppliers, and the client to drive the commissioning phase from RAMS through L4/L5 testing. The role supports the technical delivery team and aligns with RED’s mission to deliver zero carbon, efficient built environments. You will manage schedules, reporting, and stakeholder liaison to achieve facility readiness. This is a hands-on leadership role in a collaborative, client-focused consultancy setting.

Responsibilities

  • Review technical content and contract compliance in project documents
  • Oversee commissioning plans and programme development
  • Manage and report on commissioning progress and testing activities
  • Coordinate RAMS and test script preparation and review with sub-contractors
  • Review L1–L3 commissioning documents with contractors
  • Support production of level 4 and 5 test scripts and commissioning software setup
  • Conduct installation and pre-commissioning inspections and checks
  • Lead on-site testing, witnessing, issue tracking, and timely closure
  • Manage client IRL issues, ensuring closure to facility readiness
  • Produce weekly/monthly progress reports and chair commissioning meetings
  • Liaise with stakeholders, third parties, and on-site teams to ensure on-site readiness
  • Ensure test equipment availability and manage on-site labor for testing
  • Collate test documentation for record documentation

Key requirements

  • Degree qualified or HNC/HND with relevant experience or equivalent
  • Membership or towards IET/MCIBSE/IMechE
  • Familiarity with ASHRAE testing levels 1–5
  • Understanding of BSRIA and CIBSE commissioning guidelines and codes
  • Knowledge of relevant British and European standards
  • Technical and commercial management experience
  • Strong communication, organizational, and planning skills
  • Ability to work in a team and independently, mentor others
  • Excellent report writing and attention to detail
  • Proficient in MS Office; MS Project skills; BIM360 or equivalent documentation platforms
  • Strong communication
