Overview

You join Stantec’s water resources team to support the delivery of water resources projects across the UK and beyond. You will contribute to WRMPs, drought plans, WINEP investigations, and water resource modelling to help deliver resilient, regulatory-compliant solutions. The role blends technical analysis with cross-disciplinary collaboration to support AMP8 and SRO schemes, while offering growth and learning opportunities. You’ll work in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary environment and help shape sustainable water supply strategies for public and private clients.

Responsibilities

  • Support and coordinate water resources projects to ensure on-time, within-budget delivery and high-quality outputs
  • Contribute to technical reporting and regulatory standards in WRMPs, drought plans, and WINEP investigations
  • Perform hydrological analysis using tools like Excel, HYSIM, or GR6J and support water resource modelling (Pywr, Miser, Aquator)
  • Collaborate with groundwater, water quality, and flood risk teams and engage with regulators and designers
  • Assist in demand management and environmental assessments (HRA, SEA, WFD)
  • Engage in knowledge development and learning within the department to grow technical capabilities

Key requirements

  • Experience applying water resources knowledge in policy and technical contexts
  • Strong numerical skills and hydrological analysis experience
  • Practical experience with WRMPs, drought plans, and regional strategies
  • Proficiency in GIS and Excel; experience with water resources modelling tools (Pywr, Miser, Aquator)
  • Ability to work in fast-paced, multidisciplinary teams
  • Willingness to learn and grow in a supportive environment
  • Knowledge of UK water resource management and drought planning regulations (preferred)
