Senior Accountant – Payroll and VAT (Hybrid)

Overview

In this role you will lead payroll and VAT accounting for the EMEA region within the International Accounting team at Insulet. You will ensure accurate financial reporting under US GAAP and local GAAP, support statutory reporting, and drive continuous process improvements in a fast-growing public company. You will partner with Payroll, HR, Benefits, and external providers, owning balance sheet reconciliations and contributing to audits and financial statements. This is a hands-on, impact-driven role with a focus on accuracy, controls, and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Lead payroll accounting activities across the EMEA region and serve as the primary accounting partner for Payroll, HR, Benefits, and external payroll providers
• Prepare and review payroll-related journal entries and accruals, ensuring accuracy and proper supporting documentation per US GAAP and local GAAP
• Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes with review of other functions’ postings and proactive issue resolution
• Own balance sheet reconciliations for payroll, benefits, VAT, and related accounts with thorough documentation and timely resolution
• Support VAT compliance including VAT reconciliations and coordination with internal tax
• Contribute to statutory reporting, audits, and preparation of financial statements for EMEA entities
• Maintain a robust internal control framework and drive process improvements across accounting processes

Key requirements

• Professional accounting qualification (CPA, ACCA, ACA, CMA, or equivalent) is a plus
• Demonstrated progressive accounting experience in a multinational environment with exposure to internal controls and SOX
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP (preferred) and experience with payroll journals in multi-country/multi-currency setups
• Working knowledge of VAT and VAT accounting entries
• Experience with ERP systems, preferably SAP
