Overview

As a Senior Hydrogeologist you will lead hydrogeological assessments and modelling for minerals and resources projects, supporting permitting and regulator engagement. You will work within a collaborative Energy and Resources group, mentoring junior staff and contributing to business development. The role spans groundwater investigations, aquifer testing, monitoring, and risk assessments, with opportunities across water, energy, infrastructure and transport. Based in Reading, Birmingham or Shrewsbury, you will travel to project sites and client offices in the UK. You will help shape robust, value-driven project delivery and environmental responsibility.

Responsibilities

  • Develop hydrogeological assessments and conceptual models to inform groundwater risk management
  • Support complex permitting processes and regulatory engagement
  • Deliver high-quality hydrogeological reports for clients and stakeholders
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure robust project delivery
  • Mentor and support the professional development of junior colleagues
  • Contribute to business development and growth of the hydrogeology team
  • Travel to UK offices and project sites as required

Key requirements

  • Extensive experience in hydrogeology, ideally in a consulting environment
  • Strong grounding in groundwater studies applied to environmental impact assessments, quarrying, dewatering, water resources, abstraction and discharge
  • Experience developing hydrogeological conceptual models and interpreting data
  • Ability to prepare technical documentation and regulatory submissions
  • Experience supporting groundwater abstraction and discharge permitting
  • Familiarity with Flood Risk Assessments is a plus
