Overview

As a Research Engineer at HRT, you will design and build scalable software for cutting-edge quantitative research and live trading. You’ll collaborate with Algo Developers across global teams to accelerate research and deployment of ideas, from high-performance systems to deep learning models. You will tackle time-sensitive, complex problems in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and contribute to a culture that values openness and impact. Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain robust, performant, and scalable software systems
  • Optimize existing codebases for performance, reliability, and efficiency
  • Debug complex issues across distributed systems in a time-sensitive environment
  • Ergonomics and workflow improvements for Algo Developer research processes
  • Share technology and ideas across trading teams in a non-pod environment
  • Balance short-term team goals with longer-term platform objectives
  • Support deployment and monitoring of live trading systems

Key requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
  • Proficiency in Python or C++ with ability to interview in these languages
  • Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and design principles
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
  • Experience in supporting internal users and/or quant research and ML/Deep Learning platforms is a plus
  • Experience with Python numerical, ML and data libraries is a plus (e.g. pandas, scikit, pytorch)
  • Track record from top-tier finance or tech company with rapid advancement preferred
