In this role you lead Stantec’s Structural Team within Water offices, guiding regional delivery and growth. You combine hands-on design work with people leadership, mentoring junior engineers and coordinating across offices to meet quality, budget and schedule goals. You’ll drive cross-office collaboration (e.g., with Pune) and use state-of-the-art techniques to deliver robust water-related structures. Responsibilities
- Provide leadership, line management and develop the group as a team
- Provide technical expertise in structural design to meet project needs using state-of-the-art techniques
- Drive integrated work with Pune for better collaboration
- Ensure projects are delivered on budget, on time and to quality standards
- Influence others through technical knowledge and communication skills
- Plan, forecast and coordinate resources with group managers
- Maintain up-to-date technical knowledge of survey, design, drafting, project and contract management standards
- Liaise with clients to engender trust in the Structural Group
- Provide technical assistance and training to staff as required
- Review and check others’ work and focus on priorities
- Support and development/mentoring for regional team members
- Build internal and external relationships with new clients and key stakeholders
- Adopt a hands-on approach to project delivery
- Travel to meet Structural Team in High Wycombe, London, Manchester and Bristol
Key requirements
- Degree qualified in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering or related subject
- Chartered member of a relevant engineering institution (e.g., IStructE, ICE)
- Hands-on and up-to-date experience in Structural Engineering, in water engineering or similar
- Experience managing and mentoring junior staff
- Experience overseeing project budgets and timelines for structural engineering
