Overview

As a Principal Civil Design Engineer, you will lead civil design activities for energy projects, guiding FEED and detailed engineering to support multi-disciplinary teams. You will partner with clients and Project Managers to deliver safe, sustainable civil solutions across energy sectors such as renewable and traditional power. This role sits at the heart of Stantec’s Energy Transition work, helping shape infrastructure that enables the UK’s energy goals. You will drive technical excellence, innovate solutions, and mentor others while progressing your Chartered Engineer journey.

Responsibilities

  • Lead FEED and detailed civil design for energy projects
  • Develop technical civil solutions and detailed drawings
  • Coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams and support Project Managers and Team Leaders
  • Engage with clients to translate requirements into deliverable designs
  • Apply industry best practices and transmission procedures where relevant
  • Support delivery across a portfolio including Energy from Waste, Solar, Interconnectors, Windfarms, Substations, OHL, and related schemes

Key requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering (accredited)
  • On track for Chartered Engineer with Engineering Council; ICE preferred
  • Proactive with strong knowledge of the Energy Sector
  • Good understanding of transmission procedures (National Grid) preferred
  • Experience in civil design for energy projects and client-facing delivery
