Overview
In this Principal Transport Planner role, you will lead development-led transport projects in a collaborative London team, guiding client relationships and project delivery. You’ll work across a varied private-sector portfolio to shape planning outputs and drive growth of the team. You’ll tackle challenging tasks from Transport Assessments to junction modelling, delivering high-quality designs and plans. Responsibilities
- Prepare Transport Notes, Transport Statements, Transport Assessments and Travel Plans
- Undertake site access and development appraisals
- Act as Travel Plan Coordinator when required
- Apply local and national transport planning policy and guidance
- Perform junction capacity modelling using ARCADY and PICADY
- Model and design traffic signals using LinSig
- Create preliminary designs for site accesses, junctions and highway schemes using AutoCAD
- Conduct swept path analysis with AutoTrack
- Produce high-quality plans/graphics using GIS and CorelDRAW
- Manage projects and maintain client/project team communication
- Prepare client briefs, scopes of work and fee proposals
- Support wider bids, tenders and framework submissions
- Contribute to achieving broader business and commercial targets
Key requirements
- Around 6-9 years’ transport planning experience, with development planning focus
- Degree in Civil Engineering, Geography, Transport Planning or related discipline
- Experience on development-led transport planning projects
- Membership of or progression toward CIHT or ICE
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience communicating with clients and project stakeholders
- Excellent attention to detail and consistency in output
- Ability to manage priorities, be proactive and use initiative
