Senior Civil Engineer – Site Development

Overview

In this role you will lead technically challenging civil infrastructure packages within Arup’s Site Development team in Newcastle. You’ll shape drainage, utilities and earthworks designs for diverse projects, from data centres to energy and water schemes, collaborating across disciplines to meet project objectives. You drive design quality, coordinate stakeholders, and mentor junior engineers, contributing to both technical excellence and client relationships. Responsibilities

• Lead the technical delivery of civil engineering packages on complex projects
• Develop drainage, utilities and infrastructure strategies that support project objectives and future growth
• Coordinate multidisciplinary design teams and interfaces with external stakeholders
• Manage project programmes, resources, budgets and technical quality
• Build and maintain strong client relationships
• Support project bids, proposals and business development activities
• Mentor and develop junior engineers and technicians
• Act as a technical reviewer and champion best practice across the team

Key requirements

• Relevant degree in Civil Engineering or similar
• Chartered status or equivariant experience
• Experience delivering drainage, utilities and infrastructure design on complex projects
• Strong technical skills and ability to manage design packages
• Confident communicator with experience working directly with clients and stakeholders
• Proven experience leading multidisciplinary infrastructure projects
• Strong project and design management capability
• Track record of developing client relationships and winning work
• Experience managing project teams and supporting the development of others
• Ability to provide technical leadership and strategic advice to clients
