Senior Contracts Manager – Water

Overview

As Senior Contracts Manager, you will lead the delivery of a major AMP8 water programme across United Utilities, driving safe, high-quality execution from design to handover. You’ll steer cost, schedule, and commercial performance while ensuring regulatory and safety compliance. You’ll cultivate strong client and stakeholder relationships and champion innovative delivery and sustainable solutions. This is an opportunity to shape delivery across a multidisciplinary team and position the organisation for future AMP opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Lead safe, high-quality delivery of water and wastewater treatment projects across the AMP8 programme
• Manage programme performance across cost, schedule, margin, cash flow and commercial objectives
• Ensure projects meet regulatory, environmental, health and safety requirements
• Build and maintain strong relationships with United Utilities, design organisations and other stakeholders
• Drive programme growth and support development of future framework opportunities
• Lead, support and develop a high-performing multidisciplinary delivery team
• Manage key supply chain partners and promote effective contractual and commercial performance
• Champion innovation, modern methods of construction, sustainable solutions and improved delivery processes

Key requirements

• Significant experience working for a contractor on a mix of water and wastewater projects
• Strong programme or major project leadership experience within the water infrastructure sector
• Excellent commercial, contractual and risk management capabilities
• Experience managing client relationships and engaging effectively with design organisations and supply chain partners
• Broad understanding of civil, mechanical and electrical engineering disciplines
• Knowledge of advanced treatment processes
• Relevant project management accreditation
