Maintenance Engineer

Overview

In this role you maintain plant equipment to keep production running and minimise downtime. You will participate in design and CI discussions to improve machine availability and support internal customers with technical issues. You’ll apply 5S and HSE standards, and drive improvements across maintenance activities. This position sits within a global company known for engineering and tooling capability in body, chassis and engineering solutions, offering diverse projects and development opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Ensure equipment availability meets departmental targets
• Conduct root cause analysis of major breakdowns and report improvements
• Implement continuous improvement to resolve recurring issues
• Coordinate preventive maintenance schedules and recommend enhancements
• Support internal customers with technical and non-breakdown issues
• Adhere to Health, Safety and Environmental procedures during maintenance
• Maintain and improve equipment to ensure built-in quality
• Attend training and align with Magna/CCUK standards
• Apply 5S in work area and broader factory
• Support management with ad-hoc projects
• Promote HSE policies across department and plant

Key requirements

• Time served apprenticeship in Mechanical or electrical Engineering or equivalent
• C&G craft qualification / NVQ level 3 in related discipline or equivalent
• Willingness to multi-skill
• Experience with ABB robots
• Experience fault-finding from electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic schematics
• Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
• Ability to communicate technical issues to non-technical staff
• 5S experience
