Associate Technical Director – Mechanical Engineering (Water AMP8)

Overview

As an Associate Technical Director in Arcadis’ Water & Utilities MEICA team, you will lead technical delivery and design outputs for complex UK water projects. You’ll build and nurture client relationships while guiding multi-disciplinary design work and ensuring compliance with standards. This is a hands-on leadership role that shapes solutions for water and wastewater facilities and pumping stations. You will work in a resilient, impact-driven environment that values sustainable outcomes and innovation.

Responsibilities

• Produce and review complex mechanical designs, calculations, specifications, reports and drawings
• Lead or support design and advisory services for water and wastewater plants and assets
• Oversee technical delivery of multi-disciplinary projects in a Design or Technical Lead capacity using digital design techniques
• Develop innovative, client-focused technical solutions
• Coordinate work with process, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and ICA teams
• Build and maintain client and partner relationships on technical, commercial, and progress matters
• Ensure compliance with technical, legislative, quality, safety and environmental standards
• Line management, mentoring and performance development for assigned staff

Key requirements

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
• Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status and membership of IMechE, IET, or CIWEM
• Significant experience in delivering process plant systems for complex water projects
• Experience of design and construct projects using digital design
• Proven team leadership and collaborative behavior
• Desirable: water and/or wastewater experience
