Overview

In this role you lead project procurement and post-contract supply chain management for your sector, aligning delivery with group goals. You work with project leads and the P&SC leadership to deploy sector strategies and ensure value for money across projects. You drive governance, risk management, and ESG/social impact initiatives while fostering collaboration across internal and client teams. This is a strategic, cross-functional role with a clear impact on project outcomes and sustainability.

Responsibilities

  • Lead procurement and supply chain activities across the sector, guiding pre- and post-contract tasks
  • Collaborate with pre-construction estimating and post-award commercial teams under One Team, One Costain
  • Use procurement processes to enable ECI decisions and governance gates
  • Deliver category strategies and ensure on-time, accurate forecasting and milestones
  • Maintain robust supply chains compliant with How-to-Buy and sector/group segmentation models
  • Advance ESG objectives including local SME engagement and Net Zero initiatives
  • Foster collaboration with internal and client supply chain teams to unlock value via innovation
  • Lead negotiations, subcontract scoping, and performance management with corrective actions when needed

Key requirements

  • Significant experience in a similar level role
  • Enthusiasm for driving procurement best practice
  • Strong emotional intelligence for stakeholder engagement
  • Extensive knowledge of supply chain management and procurement
  • Experience with collaborative working and innovation in procurement
  • Operational procurement skills relevant to construction
  • Strong analytical, numerical, and data analysis abilities
  • Experience developing ESG and SV policies with the supply base
  • Familiarity with NEC forms of contract
  • Excellent MS Office proficiency
  • Commercial mindset with ability to unlock value through procurement
