Overview

In this role, you join the UK Engineering Design team to work on challenging highway and infrastructure projects within an independent, employee-owned consultancy. You will contribute to integrated transport planning and design sustainable mobility solutions, collaborating across disciplines to deliver safe, efficient networks. You will progress concepts through to construction-ready designs, with a focus on quality, compliance, and stakeholder engagement. Responsibilities

  • Guide projects from concept through preliminary design to construction-ready details
  • Prepare precision-engineered layouts and cost-effective solutions in line with standards
  • Develop drainage designs and schedules for drainage networks and structures
  • Provide clear project oversight and communication across parties during construction
  • Conduct road safety audits and inspections to mitigate risks
  • Support technical documentation to ensure future scheme progress
  • Contribute to client advice within project scope and Haskoning quality standards
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders to meet environmental and regulatory requirements

Key requirements

  • Experience in producing highway and infrastructure designs
  • Experience with Section 278 and Section 38 submissions; awareness of Section 104 and Section 106 agreements
  • Knowledge of DMRB, Manual for Streets, LTN 1/20, and other design standards; awareness of DCG drainage guidance and Building Regulations
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D and design software such as AVT and KeySign/Post
  • Ability to work autonomously within a team, manage timescales and budgets, and handle change requests
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Membership of CIHT, ICE, or equivalent professional body
