Overview

As a Senior Construction Contract Administrator at Stantec, you will lead contract administration for complex, fast-paced projects in Alberta, from award through turnover and warranty. You will work within an integrated team to manage change, approvals, and closeout, ensuring compliance and smooth project delivery. You’ll engage with clients and consultants to drive progress and mentor junior staff. This role offers impact through shaping construction-phase decisions and coordinating cross-disciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

  • Interpreting contract documents and ensuring compliance with requirements
  • Monitoring construction progress on site and traveling to project sites as needed
  • Liaising with clients, project managers, subconsultants, and architects to advance deliverables
  • Preparing, coordinating, and processing change documents
  • Reviewing shop drawings and contractor submissions
  • Tracking RFIs and submittals; coordinating site instructions and change orders
  • Assessing and recommending contract amendments
  • Reviewing contractor payment applications and preparing payment certificates
  • Evaluating changes and claims, and processing closeout documentation
  • Chairing construction meetings and producing minutes; preparing reports and correspondence
  • Leading contract administration on large/complex projects; mentoring junior staff
  • Acting as primary liaison with clients and contractors; supporting project leadership on construction decisions

Key requirements

  • Strong knowledge of procurement and contracting principles, change management, and contract administration
  • Ability to lead cross-discipline contract administration teams during construction
  • Experience evaluating and negotiating complex change claims, disputes, and delays
  • Working knowledge of relevant engineering principles, legislation, standards, and scheduling practices
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and sound judgment abilities
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, presentation, and written communication skills
  • Organizational, administrative, and decision-making capabilities to manage changing priorities
  • Proficiency with PCs and applications including Newforma Project Center, word processing, and spreadsheets
  • Minimum 10 years in architectural contract administration and construction-phase delivery; multidisciplinary leadership experience
  • CCCA designation is an asset; eligible for security screening
