Structural Engineer

Overview

In this role you will contribute to Arup’s Building Engineering team in Newcastle, delivering structural design across commercial, residential, transport, industrial and infrastructure projects. You will work within a multidisciplinary group to develop, analyse and deliver packages from inception to completion, mentoring juniors and communicating clearly through sketches, drawings and presentations. You’ll operate in a collaborative, values-driven culture that emphasizes sustainable design and professional growth. Responsibilities

• Support the structural design of projects and take ownership of discrete work packages
• Convey design concepts through sketches, drawings, presentations and writing
• Check own and others’ work and provide constructive feedback
• Understand project priorities and meet deadlines
• Mentor junior team members

Key requirements

• Degree-qualified and working towards chartership via IStructE, ICE or equivalent
• Developing understanding of engineering principles and use of design software
• Experience or developing experience with Eurocode or equivalent
• Proactive, takes responsibility for parts of projects
• Good understanding of digital workflows
• Interest in low- and zero-carbon design
