Overview

As an EC&I Engineer at Torness Power Station, you deliver electrical, control and instrumentation design solutions and safety justifications. You work within a multidisciplinary team to ensure modifications meet site licence conditions and industry standards, supporting safe plant operation. You will engage with regulators and operations teams to drive reliable, compliant engineering outcomes. Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver EC&I design solutions for electrical, control and instrumentation systems
  • Produce and review Engineering Changes (ECs) and supporting technical documentation
  • Conduct deterministic safety assessments and technical evaluations for plant modifications
  • Support hazard identification and hazard analysis activities (nuclear and conventional)
  • Develop regulatory justifications and submissions demonstrating nuclear safety compliance
  • Assess modification impact on safety cases and engineering documentation
  • Support design reviews, verification activities, and implementation programmes
  • Coordinate with operations, maintenance, safety case, commissioning and project teams to deliver engineering solutions
  • Ensure activities comply with legislation, licence conditions, standards and best practices

Key requirements

  • Degree in Electrical/Electronic/Control & Instrumentation Engineering or related discipline
  • Experience in engineering design, safety case production, safety assessment or technical justification
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience authoring or reviewing technical documentation
  • Ability to communicate complex concepts to diverse stakeholders
  • Understanding of hazard identification, risk assessment and safety management principles
  • Capability to work in areas requiring stairs, vertical ladders, at-height or confined spaces
  • Strong problem-solving mindset
  • Clear communication with technical and non-technical audiences
  • Methodical and analytical approach
  • Electrical power systems, control systems, instrumentation systems
  • Nuclear safety assessments and regulatory justification
  • Hazard studies and safety analysis (HAZOP/HAZID)
