Electrical Design Engineer – SC Cleared

Overview

In this permanent role based in Portsmouth, you will own electrical building services design across the full lifecycle for high‑impact defence and security projects. You’ll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, compliant, and buildable solutions, with occasional site involvement to support installation and resolve technical issues. The role offers exposure to regulated environments and the opportunity to progress through ongoing delivery until site completion. A strong fit combines technical ownership with effective cross‑team communication.

Responsibilities

• Produce and develop electrical building services designs from concept to delivery
• Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure safety, compliance, and buildability
• Support technical delivery by answering queries and resolving issues
• Contribute to smooth project completion through problem solving
• Attend site visits as required to support installation and resolve technical challenges

Key requirements

• Background in Electrical Engineering with building services/design delivery experience
• Experience in highly regulated environments (Defence, Security, nuclear, critical infrastructure)
• Security clearance is required or candidate must be eligible/willing to obtain it
• Strong communicator capable of working with internal teams, contractors, and clients
