QA Automation Engineer

Overview

As a QA Automation Engineer, you will help ensure the quality and reliability of Softcat’s Oracle Cloud HCM implementation. You’ll design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts, working closely with development and QA teams to shape a robust testing process. You’ll create reusable test suites covering functional, integration, and regression testing, and help define the overall testing strategy. This role sits in the IT Systems/Internal Technology team, offering a collaborative, flexible environment that values diverse perspectives. You will play a key part in delivering a scalable HR systems solution that supports business growth.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts using appropriate test automation frameworks and tools
• Collaborate with the squad to understand software requirements and design test cases for automated testing
• Create and maintain reusable automated test suites to cover functional, integration, and regression testing
• Participate in test planning sessions to define the overall testing strategy, approach, and scope
• Identify test scenarios suitable for automation based on risk analysis and business priorities
• Contribute to the selection and evaluation of appropriate test automation tools and technologies

Key requirements

• Strong experience with HR Systems & Payroll, ideally Oracle Cloud HCM
• Proven experience as a QA Automation Engineer or similar role
• Test Automation programming skills in languages like C#, or JavaScript
• Hands-on experience with test automation tools and frameworks, such as Playwright
• Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git)
• Solid understanding of software testing principles, methodologies, and practices
